Modificationss are going to be for more advanced users that are not afraid to void warranties, do some electrical work, and spending time programming. I won’t dive into it much unless I eventually dive into it myself but I will share anything I learn while I casually research it to see if I want to get into it.

Will Not Void Warranty – Add Functionality

Homebridge

Homebridge is a server that you can install so that you can add non-HomeKit devices that have integrations available through Homebridge add-ons and expose them to HomeKit. Homebridge is pretty easy to setup and use for HomeKit users.

Govee devices are available to HomeKit through Homebridge, though its a bit of a pain to get different scenes setup it is helpful if you want to be able to do simple on/off and single color changes on a product.

Home Assistant

Home Assistant is a server that you can install and use to create a complex Home Automation system. Home Assistant also makes it easy to make multiple dashboards to control different rooms or whatever custom dashboard you want to make. People that are big on Home Assistant will often install tablets as control centers in their homes and have different dashboards for their different needs. Home Assistant is a more complex and advanced system, which may be a roadblock for many users.

Govee devices are available to Home Assistant very easily by turning on LAN control on your Wi-Fi Govee products.

Will Void Warranty – Enhance Functionality

WLED

The WLED Project is an Open-Source LED control system. This is often paired with light show software such as xLights. WLED has built-in effects similar to you would find in the Govee app but with more controls and such. WLED also has a Home Assistant integration.

As far as I have researched so far I just know these products as being compatible or non-compatible.
