Motion Sensors and Smart Presence Sensor
Utilize these sensors to trigger automations to turn on your lights when you need them. For example, I have an LED strip that I used for my stairs, when the motion sensor detects motion I have it turn on the LED strip automatically!
When using these sensors you setup an automation for the actions that are to be done when motion/presence is detected by the sensor. Set the Instant Execution to turn on the lights, then you can set a Delayed Execution in 5 minutes to turn them off so they are not on all night. Button Sensors
Button sensors are great for locations where you want to trigger an action for your lights. With these accessories each button can by used to set an automation for your lights. You can setup the button in Alternate Mode so that even a single button remote can be used to turn on and off a light or multiple lights. Alternate Mode performs all the actions in the automation when the button is pressed. When pressed again it will turn off all the devices used in the automation.
This functionality means that if you use alternate mode, each button essentially becomes a toggle for different modes and an off button. You do not need to assign a button just to turn off the lights. After using my Two Button Remote I would only buy 6 button remotes from now on just so I can easily switch between more modes. I currently have my Two Button Remote as a switch for my daughter’s room. 1 button is used for a night light mode, then the other is used for a Rainbow Cycling DIY I made for her.
